Where are you from?
Where am I from?
I felt like taking a good walk after work and so I walked back one evening. I was sweaty by the time I reached the apartment. Michelle's (Kevin's girlfriend) friend asked me after a short chat and introduction when we were at our Lobby, "Where are you from?" I rolled my eyes wide before answering, "I'm from Singapore!" and smiled. "I'm a Singaporean!", I reiterated. "But you don't sound like one?"
How do Singaporeans sounds like? We are multi-racial, multi lingual and we, especially me has many influences that contributed to the way I deliver my words sometimes. Goodness, it has been hell-so many times I've been asked that question. There has been many times even I posed and pulled it off as a Thai boy. Mix parentage has been an overused option. Does it really matter?
Where do I come from?!?! Ask me again, I do not mind at all.
